We started AcademicFellows with a simple question: how do we make research expertise and capability easier to discover? The question turned out to be the surface of a much older one. Knowledge is the one asset that compounds. Every discovery is built on the ones before it, and every decision about where to direct effort, money and people shapes what becomes possible next. Yet those decisions are made with almost no view of the system they are shaping. We fund without seeing what already exists. We build capability without knowing what capability is already there. We set direction for decades using evidence assembled in weeks. This is not a failure of intelligence or intent. It is that the knowledge required to decide well has never been assembled into a form anyone can reason with. That is the problem Antlect exists to solve. ## What Antlect is Antlect is a decision intelligence platform for research and innovation. Our vision is to connect the whole innovation ecosystem into a single structure: research, funding, organisations, publications, infrastructure, patents, clinical trials, spinouts, technology startups and policy. Connected, it becomes a feedback loop. The people building the future and shaping society can see the system they are shaping. ## What happens to AcademicFellows AcademicFellows remains part of this as the [research collaboration](/academicfellows/research-collaboration) experience, built on the Antlect foundation. ## What this means in practice The four layers Antlect is built on, and what each one contributes to an answer. What sits in the Trusted Data Foundation today. The company behind the platform is now **Antlect Limited**, formerly AcademicFellows Limited. Our [Privacy Policy](/legal/privacy-policy), [Terms of Service](/legal/terms-of-service) and [Trust Centre](/trust-centre) name the new entity; nothing about how data is handled changes with it.
